Speaker Bio

Diego Romeres (Senior Member, IEEE) received the M.Sc. degree (summa cum laude) in control engineering and the Ph.D. degree in information engineering from the University of Padua, Padua, Italy, in 2012 and 2017, respectively. He is currently a Senior Principal Research Scientist and Team Leader of the Intelligent Robotics Team at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, Cambridge, MA, USA. He is a co-author of over 70 scientific publications and 25+ patents and serves as an Associate Editor for leading robotics conferences, including ICRA and IROS. He has held visiting research positions at TU Darmstadt, Germany, and ETH Zurich, Switzerland. His research interests include learning-based and model-based robotics, physically grounded artificial intelligence, with applications to manipulation, human-robot interaction, and manufacturing.
