As SVP and Chief Data & AI Officer, Andy Markus leads AT&T’s strategic vision for data platforms, automation, business intelligence, data governance and AI implementation. Setting the direction for the entirety of AT&T, Markus leads the Chief Data Office in designing and implementing cutting-edge data practices and AI tools to address the needs of the business. These tools are empowering employees to be more effective and creative, while meaningfully adding value to the company and its customers.


Markus and the Chief Data Office (CDO) harness the exabytes of data flowing across the AT&T network into an enterprise asset powered by state-of-the-art data architectures and AI solutions. Along with traditional AI and machine learning technologies used in areas like fraud detection and technician dispatch optimization, Markus also spearheads the development of new AI tools that are transforming the customer and the employee experiences. These new tools are reimagining how AT&T connects customers, develops code, builds new revenue streams, reduces costs, and increases productivity. At the same time, CDO is also responsible for ensuring rigorous data and AI standards and ethics are upheld across the firm.


Markus graduated from The University of Alabama with Master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Statistics with a minor in Computer Science.
