Nagendra Bykampadi is a global leader in telecommunications innovation and security with over 30 years of experience shaping the security foundations of modern mobile networks and contributing extensively to securing mission-critical and public safety communications systems.
Nagendra has served as CSO in support of the launch of a new tier-one mobile network in Germany, guiding technology and solutioning for business continuity planning, network design and redundancy. He has played a pivotal role in developing telecom security advancements and defining industry security standards, including serving as Rapporteur for the foundational security of Service-Based Architecture in 3GPP Release 15, which underpins all modern 5G core networks deployed worldwide, including Rakuten Mobile’s cloud-native and software-based tier-one network in Japan.
As VP Security Research and Standards at Rakuten Symphony, he leads efforts to define security standards for Open RAN networks, driving research and pioneering security controls for AI-native telco architectures. As Co-Chair of the O-RAN Alliance Security Work Group (WG11) since 2020, Nagendra helps establish global consensus on security models for open and interoperable RAN architectures. He is a frequent keynote speaker and industry contributor on telecom security, AI-driven networks, quantum-resistant architecture and the future of secure digital infrastructure.
