Session Description
Session 1: The Human Hack: Social Engineering Exposed
90 minutes
Cybersecurity media coverage has dramatically surged off the back of attacks on well known brands, which capture global headlines. This has resulted in a heightened attention to supply chain-related cyber threats that have also surged 600% over the past year. One breach, for instance, gained global attention not just for its £300M loss, but because it affected an iconic heritage retailer with national symbolism. Another breach created a rare media-first breach when hackers sent proof directly to a leading news outlet, whilst affecting 2,000+ stores during a cost-of-living crisis, transforming a technical security incident into a story about food security and economic vulnerability. Cybersecurity media coverage continues to involve a plethora of stories related to sophisticated scams and phishing attacks, many of which are powered or amplified by AI. Some cyber experts are even referring to this growing theme as the ‘fraud pandemic’.
